Then, time to hang out and play with my project

Come to play with myb project at the diverseworks Today 6 to 8!!!
You may have a chance to get wonderful stuff with you for sure!

By the way....

I lost a chance to go back to Japan this summer.
I don't blame anyone because I have had real good opportunity in Houston and New Mexico this summer. I believe I made right decision.

Anyway, August 15th is the day when World War 2 ended in 1945.
Coincidently, we have a tradition to invite the deceased a couple days before August 15th.
This tradition started way back in the History like a couple centuries ago.

Regular Japanese family and cousines gather oldest brother's house to worship for the deceased.
This is like a Mexican tradition to invite the dead, you know, El Dia de Muertos.... this should be correct in Spanish, right?

So, we also have similar custom like that in Japan.

Could you imagine Japanese regular families in 1945 just before the end of the war. They were middle of this period. I have never thought about this until a couple days ago.

Since I have been living in Houston for 3 years, my tie to my own culture weakened and almost forget my significant cultural background.

I am glad to choose this project to make happend this time. I didn't think about this when I sent my proposal to the Diverseworks. Thank you for Diverseworks's Staff for giving me a wonderful opportunity for me to think about my ancesters and my cultural background, seriously.

I like this

August 9th, Exposing silkscreen

This is only thing that I can focus on in my own studio space, like this exposing silkscreen and shooting some photos.

I usually do this or shooting images around midnight till two in the morning.

What's this?

August 9th, ?

You know what this is, right?

My own studio space

August 9th, My own Space

Sometimes I feel more comfortable to work in this space, though I don't feel making anything most of time here.

So.....little bit more progress at the studio space

August 6th, the Wall

Finally, little more actual progress

I am always like this....

Disko Ball

August 6th, Mirror Head over Heads at the Poison Girl

Did you notice that?

It was up about a week there.

Someone seemed to have had a fire or traffic accident

August 4th, Smoke

You see the direction of the smoke.
This stopped me to look at how air moves.

Little Mess

August 3rd, Mess on my work table

This happens to everyone who makes something, right?

Unexpected suggestion

August 2nd, Installing my head at the Poison Girl

Again I was really fortunate to have this opportunity.

Thank you very much for everyone working at the Poison Girl!

Wood Blocks

August 2nd, Wood Blocks

When I was playing with those, I just reminded of when I was really little.

It was fun to play with wood blocks!

Reflection....

August 2nd, Mirror Head

This mirror head was made out of my actual head.
This came out nicer than I thought.
I think I am lucky!

On the Air

July 31st, Please do not try this!

He is well-trained and professional to do this.
I never suggest to do this for you guys.

If you can take risk for yourself, go ahead!!!

Same Pose

July 31st, so they did same pose.

Colorful Color Chalks

July 30th, Colorful Chalks and Colorful Spices

...Dirty

July 29th, Dirty Bayou in front of the U of H DownTown Campus

We should make this river clean and beautiful for good citizen of Houston
to swim and bath there!!!

Continues

Third one

July 29th, Mirror Fragments

O.K. I figured this out

The second one.

July 24th, No Progress

The Text which I wrote when I felt super depressed 4 or 5 years ago

Please check out this image!
Also, I will put this on one of wall in the studio space for better understanding

The Text which I wri

I want you to read this before you come to the closing reception

please just read this and interpret based on your own experience.
This is the perception of the reality which I have been unconsciously aware of, though I understand throuhg Japanese translation, not English translation like this.
Please feel it! And keep this in your mind when you interact with my project

Panjna Paramita Hridaya Sutra
Adoration to the Omniscient

The venerable Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, performing his study in the deep Prajna Paramita(perfection of wisdom), thought thus: There are the five Skandhas, and these he considered as by their nature empty (phenomenal).
O Sariputra, 'he said, 'form here is emptiness, and emptiness indeed is form. Emptiness is not different from form., form is not different from emptiness.
What is form that is emptiness. What is emptiness that is form., ‘The same applies to perception, name, conception, and knowledge. ''Here, O Sariputra, all things have the character of emptiness, they have no beginning, no end, they are faultless and not faultless, they are not imperfect and not perfect.
Therefore, O Sariputra, in this emptiness there is no form, no perception, no name, no concepts, no knowledge.
No eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind. No form, sound, smell, taste, touch, objects.
'There is no eye' &c., till we come to' there is no mind'.(What is left out here are the eighteen Dhatus or aggregates, viz eye, form, vision; ear sound, hearing; nose, odor, smelling; tongue, flavor, tasting; body, touch, feeling; mind, object, thought.)
There is no knowledge, no ignorance, no destruction of knowledge, no destruction of ignorance,'&c,till we come to 'there is no decay and death, no knowledge, no obtaining of Nirvara'.
A man who has approached the Prajna Paramita of the Bodhisattva dwells enveloped in consciousness.
*But when the envelopment of consciousness has been annihilated, then he becomes free of all fear, beyond the reach of change, enjoying Final Nirvana.
All Buddhas of the past, present, and future, after approaching the Prajna Paramita, have awoke to the highest perfect knowledge.
'Therefore one ought to know the great verse of the Prajna Paramita, the verse of the wisdom, the unsurpassed verse, the peerless verse, which appeases all pain---it is truth, because it is no false---the verse proclaimed in the Prajna Paramita;'O wisdom, gone, gone, bone to the other shore, landed at the other shore, Svaha!'.

Thus ends the heart of the Prajna Paramita.

Stayed at my second studio space

I feel sorry I couldn't show up Diverseworks Studio Space today.
I was taking care of my stuff for school and other things at my apartment, which is now the second studio space.
I needed to go over to the Diverseworks for my poroject but.... I couldn't do that.
But, things are still on right track. It should be alright.

by the way, I am wondering how many people read this blog?!

Please let me know if you have a chance to show up on the closing reception.

Recent my interest

I just thought that this should be good to share.
I am pretty interested in local sustainability and ecological living.
I don't know why I didn't mension this until now.

I went to Taos, New Mexico, for internship to build a sustainable house, which called "Earthship".
I guess many of you must have heard this before. This entire project and vision is pretty impressive.... though they are not perfect yet.

I was there for a month working from 9 am - 5 pm, 5 days a week.
It was hands-on intensive labor, though sometimes easy sometimes hard.
Life there was quite nice to me. Quiet, beautiful landscape, good weather, hot spring, Rio Grande, pink, orange and purple sunset, and amazing stars on night sky.

Check out there website and also the movie about "Earthship" is also coming out soon!

A thousand pounds of used clothings

I got a thousand pounds of used clothings a couple days ago.
It was pretty good amount for my project.
Also, it was a piles of treasure. If you carefully look through, you can find good clothings for you.
Come to the last day of the project and interact with my project. Then, you can take a couple of those clothings afterward.
Anyway, I appreciqate huge help!
